CONCRETE JUNGLE

Since Pierre and I work from home, we sometimes get a little cabin fever when we have been indoors all day. So it’s pretty common for us to just take a walk around our area at the end of the day. Our area is quite interesting. I mean, we have one of the top restaurants in the city (country?) “Fyn” right across the road from us. And just a round the corner we have the Eastern Food Bazaar (incredible food for cheap, just so BTW). We have cute café’s next to small, Indian electronic shops. The police station across Mavericks…

IN GOOD COMPANY

Did you know that we had a little Central Park here in Cape Town? I am talking about the Company’s Gardens (or Kompanjies Tuine, it’s beautiful Dutch name). I vaguely knew about it before, but since moving down here at the beginning of this year into an apartment that literally looks out over the gardens, I have explored it little by little. And not only because walking through it is a short cut to Yours Truly on Kloof Street, because it’s actually quite peaceful and well looked after. Yes, there are still people taking naps on the grass and sometimes…

DOWN TOWN

I did the best thing this week. You know how sometimes you would compliment some-one on their clothes and they would be like “really? I’m actually so tired of this top/jacket/shoes/whatever it may be, but to me it’s something new, different. I know I have things in my closet that I NEVER wear, but what some-one else might love. So, I went to my friend Ashleigh (the incredibly stylish girl I wrote a whole post on here and who has the most incredible wardrobe you can ever imagine). She has a pile of clothes that she’s not wearing anymore, but…

JACKET SEASON

Jacket season is just around the corner! And I am excited! There are so many good styles and trends that we have seen from all the mystical-fashion-countries of the Northern Hemisphere and I am sure Mr. Zara and his friends all made sure that we will be getting all those beauties this side of the world. I have actually not gone coat shopping yet (I am really hanging onto the last bit of summer as tightly as I can), but with what I have seen in store… I am really proud of my self control that I have not spent…

WINTER CAME EARLY

What’s up with this weather Cape Town? The current Netflix-and-chill weather is a pleasant change to over-heating summer days, but I am just crossing my fingers that it’s not here for good. If so, it’s going to be a long winter… and I suck at wintering. I need heat and sunshine to survive. I’m not gonna lie, though. I liked dusting off some winter clothes and am really excited about the jackets that I have spotted in the shops’ windows! Give me a bulky jacket and you can be sure that I’m hooked. Even though I dread the Cape winter…

CARGO (FT. THE MEETING PLACE)

This past Friday Pierre and I were invited to the opening of the coolest, vibey-est place in Stellenbosch. It’s called The Meeting Place and is situated in Dorp Street, Stellenbosch. The Meeting Place is exactly what Stellenbosch needs at the moment – it is relaxed enough for a good meal (the food is amazing and they do brekkie, lunch, dinner and everything in between) and vibey enough for a lekker kuier with ice cold beer and good wine. Just to give you an idea: They have a DJ booth for the evenings and then for breakfast serve anything from gourmet…

MONOTONE

When in doubt. I wear all black. Haven’t done that in a while though, I guess my brain just gives me these red lights when I think of putting on black clothes when it’s boiling outside. But sometimes I really shouldn’t listen to my brain. A lot of the time, actually. I felt kind of cool in my 10 years old ripped jeans, Pierre’s tee shirt and my worn-out Converse All Stars.  I also like to keep it simple with my hair and accessories. With my clothes being monotone, I feel that literally having no accessories makes just as much of…
