CARGO (FT. THE MEETING PLACE)

This past Friday Pierre and I were invited to the opening of the coolest, vibey-est place in Stellenbosch. It’s called The Meeting Place and is situated in Dorp Street, Stellenbosch. The Meeting Place is exactly what Stellenbosch needs at the moment – it is relaxed enough for a good meal (the food is amazing and they do brekkie, lunch, dinner and everything in between) and vibey enough for a lekker kuier with ice cold beer and good wine. Just to give you an idea: They have a DJ booth for the evenings and then for breakfast serve anything from gourmet…

MONOTONE

When in doubt. I wear all black. Haven’t done that in a while though, I guess my brain just gives me these red lights when I think of putting on black clothes when it’s boiling outside. But sometimes I really shouldn’t listen to my brain. A lot of the time, actually. I felt kind of cool in my 10 years old ripped jeans, Pierre’s tee shirt and my worn-out Converse All Stars.  I also like to keep it simple with my hair and accessories. With my clothes being monotone, I feel that literally having no accessories makes just as much of…

BIG CITY LIGHTS

Why is it that it can simultaneously feel like January has been the longest month in the history of time and also like it was Christmas like 2 days ago? This year started with a bang and have been like one constant bang for a month (not sure how my metaphor is, but it will do). Pierre and I had our first ultimate lazy Sunday and I forgot how good it feels starting a Monday actually quite rested. Okay, so I say it was a lazy Sunday, which it was, besides my 16km morning run. I decided on this run…

NEON FLASH

There’s only one thing sweeter than seeing “your order has been shipped” and that is to find something in store that you LOVE and then seeing that it’s on sale. I have to be honest, normally, in-store sales aren’t really my thing. I never really find anything because I tend to get there when all the good stuff has been sold and all that’s left are these masses of clothes, nothing is organized anymore and if I happen to find something I really like, they never have my size! But, last week the stars aligned and I had two luck…

WITH A TOUCH OF PINK – ALISE CELEBRATION WEEKEND

It’s not every weekend where you drive around Cape Town in an old vintage convertible with flowers overflowing on the back seat. It does, however, happen when you have just picked up your best friend for her kitchen tea and are on your way to the Belmont Mount Nelson for high tea. High tea that turned into champagne that turned into wine that turned into cocktails that caused us and the bride to be to be late to her own bachelorette. And not by 20 minutes. By an hour and a half. So, Alise and I drove around Cape Town…

THE BIG CHOP

This weekend has been crazy (good). I have to go fetch this story on Friday where, after trying to grow my hair for ten years (and finally reached the length I wanted), I decided to chop it off. I was semi nervous, but fully excited! The only people I trust with my hair these days is HAND (short for Have A Nice Day) Hair Salon, so I have waited a few months to get to Cape Town to visit Jarryd and Andrew at HAND. Worth it. I as so beyond excited about this chop. I feel like a new person. I…

UNIFORM

This has been the longest that I haven’t posted in a while – I am solidly going to claim the excuse of “I was packing up my whole life (which all fits in the back of a bakkie) and moving across the country”. Pierre and I drove down on Monday, arriving here on Tuesday. I am such a weird 20-something-year old. I am not used to the city! My heart was beating so fast with all the cars and people when we got here! Anyway, I know all the excitement of being back in my favourite city will take over…
