Anya is a South African girl living in Cape Town. I don’t know her personally, but she is just one of the first girls that came to mind when I thought of the “Girls Like Us” feature. Her effortlessly cool style is so diverse and definitely something I learn from.
Just as I think I have this girl’s style figured out, she surprises me with something completely different and oh so flippen amazing.
When I first discovered Anya on Instagram, I saw a picture of her in like the chillest, but coolest clothes. And sensing that there’s more to her than that, I followed her. What a treat that was.
So, first off all. I am going to go find myself some school shoes and quirky socks! I haven’t seen this combination in a while and I am really loving it! Anya makes this out-of-the-ordinary look just so relevant. She does no wrong and pairs it with, like, jean shorts and coloured striped jersey, or a dress-and-tee combo or some great jeans. Guess I will be heading to Toughies as soon as I get back into town.
How can some-one be equally stylish in vintage jeans and a printed tee as in a mustard yellow ruffle dress with a statement hat and boots? Or in a beautiful high waisted pants and white shirt? And who can even pull off wearing their boyfriend’s hawaiian flower shirt over a black poloneck? I guess Anya can.
My favourite, though, is where she captions her photo’s as “Can you tell I don’t have any good mirrors at home?”. The mirror photo’s she takes in a mall or some other place you can really see her personal favourites shine through. A perfect not-skinny-not-notskinny jean, statement belt and cool shoes. Usually paired with a great jacket or comfy sweater.
AND then in between we get a look at the really beautiful shoots she does as a model. My favourites being her swimwear shoots for January and June and then also the very nostalgic, Victorian shoot she recently posted on her Instagram.
Yes, her outfits give me cool ideas, but it’s not only, like, specifically to wear this shirt with those jeans, or that this hat is pretty cool and I can get it at this particular store… It’s really the fact that I cannot pinpoint her style to something specific! Just have a look at the photo’s below, I will give R100 to the person who can convince me she has a specific type of style other than “cool AF”.
Do yourself the favour and follow this unbelievably cool girl on Instagram here. I literally had to stop myself from adding more photos to this post. Just go check her out on Insta. There’s so much more there. Not only will she inspire you to step up your creativity when it comes to style, she also adds value to what you consume on social media through her captions and her stories. The following is a screenshot of one of her posts and I found it to be very powerful.
Remember to look for the magic in your everyday life.
