AND NOW, MY SCHOOL SHIRT

Today I literally wore a school shirt. Yes, like those ones you swear you will never ever pull over your head again as soon as you finish your final exam paper. So, I (an adult) have decided to go buy some Toughees school shirts from Ackermans out of my own free will. Let’s be honest. The quality isn’t great. I mean, before washing it with a decent amount of fabric softener, it’s more or less like wearing a box. But, after a decent wash and good iron, a school shirt is the best value money can buy. It gives you…

THE GEMS I SCREENSHOT

Just thought I wanted to share some things I loved and screenshot recently. These unrefined golden stacked bangles and rigs are giving me butterflies. Some inspo for my embroidery. Subtle, yet beyond cool. Gigi <3 Right in the feels Ever seen such a perfect combo? Me neither. These are a real girl’s legs. Her name is Kirsty Godso and she’s the most inspiring person on this planet. Jonathan Simkai. NYFW 2018. If I could wear anything in the world… My favourite Instagram account and girl crush. Happily Grey. Remember that. xxxAndy

GIRLS LIKE US | ASHLEIGH

ASHLEIGH KAVANAGH I met Ash while doing my post-grad in Cape Town in 2016. We were grouped together for one of our major projects and besides having her Microsoft Word open, she would always have another blog or magazine website open – scrolling through the newest fashion alongside her school document. I just thought she is the coolest ever. I also remember sitting behind Ashleigh in class and seeing her laptop screen open on Superbalist. Scrolling through those shoes that none of us had the guts to wear yet. You know, those “dad-sneakers” that are top fashion now. Yep. She…

ACT LIKE SUMMER

I do this thing – I take old clothes and I cut them, stitch them and embroider them. Basically, giving it new life, changing it completely into something different and, well, one-of-a-kind. I have done this with many of my dad’s shirts that he throws out, but then I normally have to embroider a flower to cover up a stain. I use men’s shirts and tee shirts. It gives me space to cut and alter like I need to (women’s shirts are already too fitted) and I love a longer sleeve. There’s just something about combining masculine look with feminine…

MY BOYFRIEND’S SHIRT

It’s no secret that I love a white button up shirt. It can be crisp and structured. It can be flowy and soft…depending on how you wear it. I love it even more when it’s my boyfriend’s shirt that I gave him as an anniversary gift, with his initials hand embroidered by me on the left pocket area. (UN)luckily, it’s too small for him, so I get to wear it. No. Shame. At. All. I decided to go for the more crisp and structured look, tucking Pierre’s shirt into my favourite denims and securing it place with a solid belt.…

MUSE | ALEXA CHUNG | JEANS

Alexa Chung has to be one of the most well known fashion influencers/-models/-designers/-names in the world. Known for her cool-chic style that showcases her personality, brands fall over their feet to work with her. I really like her too. It doesn’t seem like she’s too fazed about what everyone else is doing. She just does her own shit. And we love her for that. There’s one thing that we all know about Alexa. That is her love for denim. And she does denim right. Jean trends go through phases every year. Think bell bottom jeans in the 2000’s, baggy hipster jeans…

GIRLS LIKE US | ANYA BRUWER

ANYA BRUWER Anya is a South African girl living in Cape Town. I don’t know her personally, but she is just one of the first girls that came to mind when I thought of the “Girls Like Us” feature. Her effortlessly cool style is so diverse and definitely something I learn from. Just as I think I have this girl’s style figured out, she surprises me with something completely different and oh so flippen amazing. When I first discovered Anya on Instagram, I saw a picture of her in like the chillest, but coolest clothes. And sensing that there’s more…
